Its been a while::((
Yes I started well:)....I was going to add something to my blog everyday...but as the case 'life' or I guess...'plain laziness' on my part got in the way...
......well its the 1st of July which means the 'mini 12th in Northern Ireland'...bands and orangemen will be parading on and off now until Aug .....red, white and blue everywhere...well except for republican areas....the 12th attracts folk from all over the world...quite a spectacle...on a good day:) quite a family day out.
....Love and Blessings x

Those were the days.....
Whole families lived in the same street, next door across the same street...they never ventured far away from their parents/grandparents, doors didnt need to be locked, apart from the fact no one would dare break in......there was no point no one had anything worth stealing! a favorite saying was 'if anyone breaks in they'll maybe leave me something'....neighbours looked out for each other...everybody knew everyone and usually their business as well:))...not like now eh??

The beginning.....
I was born in Belfast may10 1949..to Wily and Lily Shaw (William and Elizabeth really)...everyone in Ireland had shortened versions of their names i.e. Margaret..referred to as Maggie, Peggy, Marge and quite a few other variations ..
We lived in Mersey Street East Belfast.....one of the many streets full of terrace houses ..which backed on to The Harland and Wolffe Ship building yard...most of the neighbours and my father worked there...a lot of the older men (including my fathers father who lived in Dee St just around the corner) had worked as young men on the Titanic......
